We were privileged to have Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan visit our sister school, Yellow Brick Road Early Childhood Development Center, on Monday, September 9, 2024, to spotlight the incredible opportunity our state has made available to individuals interested in a career in early childhood education. This year the Dual-Training Pipeline grant, which supports a partnership between vital on-the-job training and formal education with the goal of developing a skilled workforce, expanded eligibility to individuals in the child care industry. Sonnet Montessori School & Childcare, as a recipient of the grant, was also invited to participate in the Lt. Governor’s visit.
We are so grateful that the state of Minnesota recognizes the importance of investing in early childhood education and the formative years of ages 0 to 5. Flanagan says that these years are foundational to the success of the child but also to the overall success of our workforce. These children are citizens and tomorrow’s leaders, or, as Dr. Montessori said, they are “a hope and a promise for mankind”. They also acknowledge that the “demand for talented workers” is a struggle, with a shortage of preschool teachers in Minnesota almost 11,500. The grant enables individuals with a passion for early childhood education to gain the expertise they need to provide excellent care and education to young children. The grant also makes this education accessible to all residents of our state!
Our company’s Executive Director of Talent, Learning and Development, Melissa Semira (second from the left, pictured with Lt.
