Meet the Owners
Welcome to Sonnet Montessori & Child Care! My name is Jessica Johnsen and along with our COO, Kylie Schrader, we’d like to say “Hello” and tell you a little about who we are and what we strive to do each day with our amazing kiddos and top-of-the-line staff!
To introduce us, Kylie has worked in the Early Childhood industry in Minneapolis for over 19 years. She is an expert in all things licensing, operations, and curriculum. I moved to the area in 2019 but have worked with early childhood centers across the United States and abroad. Prior to moving to Minneapolis, I ran 12 nonprofit schools near Washington D.C. Together, we operate our family of schools across the Midwest, which include Sonnet Montessori School & Child Care, Yellow Brick Road Early Childhood Development Center and Seeds to Seedlings.
We truly believe that choosing childcare is one of the most important decisions you will make in your child’s life. In fact, it’s likely more important than college! That’s a big statement…. And we do not take it lightly. I like to say, “pay for childcare and you won’t have to pay for college.” Sonnet has an amazing reputation within the community for excellence in education and we are honored carry on that legacy while bringing in our core values of collaboration, communication, innovation, positivity, nurturing and fun! Kylie and I strive each day to set our culture using our core values.
Here at Sonnet, we firmly believe that relationships come first. Your child’s relationship with his or her teacher will ultimately set them up for success in the upcoming years. Birth through five are the most formative years in your child’s development and it is of upmost importance that they first and foremost learn to build trusting relationships. The rest will come. Our teachers are trained to educate and help your child meet developmental milestones, not only academically, but also (and most importantly) social-emotional skills. This is why we laugh so much around here. We believe that happy teachers equal happy children!
We love the heck out of our staff, children, and families. We strive to partner with you each day to support our teachers and your child’s growth. This isn’t to say that we aren’t human or in a human business. We are honest about that up front. That is why we ask, that if you ever have any questions or hesitations, you please let us know. Our goal is to be better each day than the day before. We are excited to begin this journey with you. No matter what childcare you choose, we want you to trust your provider will collaborate with you each and every day. That is our promise.
